Milestones

Noun:

  1. A stone by the side of a road that shows the distance in miles to a specified place.

  2. An important point in the progress or development of something : a very important event or advance

When you are given your treatment plan, it can feel like an enormous weight, and an immensely long journey ahead.

I found this easier to manage by looking at each treatment as a milestone, counting down each procedure to your final “all clear” (hopefully!) appointment.

For some reason, time seems to go slow, like you’re in a dream.  I reckon the 6 months I was on chemo were actually around 100 years.  And at the end of it, it’s amazing how many people say “ooh didn’t that go quick?!”

“WHAT?  I have felt like shit more or less constantly for half a year.  Some days barely able to lift my bald head from the sofa.  And you think that went quick?  It was quick for you, with your head full of hair, your trip to Mallorca, socialising and not feeling like death the whole time! Piss right off!”

Some people eh?  Jeez!
