Chemo Brain

Noun: chemo-brain

A common term used by cancer survivors to describe thinking and memory problems that can occur during and after cancer treatment.

Chemo-brain is baby-brain on steroids.  In truth, it is probably a combination of the drugs and anxiety, but whatever causes it, it’s real!  You might find yourself being unusually disorganized, unable to make decisions, finding it difficult to concentrate and losing the thread of what you are talking about mid-sentence.  It can be very frustrating for you and the people around you, and can go on well after your treatment has finished.

It is good to keep as active as possible, to avoid turning into a complete physical and mental potato.  But on the bad days, I recommend blaming The Cancer and demanding total empathy from your family and friends.
